Custom Inflatable Colon Tunnel Used by Barnes-Jewish Hospital to Educate Community

Barnes-Jewish Hospital's Inflatable Colon at Community Outreach EventInflatable Colon Tunnel Promotes Community Outreach & Education

Take one look at the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and you'll notice something quickly… they have a passion for education. There's good reason for that.

Many forms of cancer can be treated more diligently or completely prevented with proper education and early screenings. Such is the case with colon cancer.

With community outreach being a primary activity at the Siteman Cancer Center, it only made sense that they would want a marketing tool which was proven to attract crowds. A custom inflatable colon tunnel was the perfect solution.

Unusual to say the least (even curious), the inflatable colon tunnel does its job of raising eyebrows well.  While onlookers make their way through the colon, they are educated on the phases of the disease as well as preventative measures that can (and should) be taken.

And you know what else? In some areas, it costs half as much to produce your own custom inflatable colon tunnel as it would be to rent one. When we asked Barnes-Jewish's Community Health Coordinator, Liz Kalicak, why she chose Landmark Creations, the bottom line was cost:  "I did some research online and found that it cost half as much to have a colon made. So, rather than renting one, we decided to have Landmark Creations make one for us.  I knew it would be a quality product after speaking with someone who had worked with Landmark before.  It has been absolutely great!"

What Others Say About Landmark Creations

“This has created tremendous buzz around town and we have received a great deal of compliments on the Big Tire. Exposure is my goal, and the inflatable does that better than anyone, including me, can do at these events. The Big Tire never takes a break, gets tired or has to take a call. It just keeps shining bright and the kids love it.”

- Ed Chaney, Ed Chaney Tire Center Inc.

"People love the inflatable! It's been a great photo op for History Center guests."

- Laura Geffre-Rick, Minnesota Historical Society

“Everywhere it goes, folks go out of their way to catch a glimpse of the colorful inflatable.”

- B. Campbell, Enterprise Beverage Group, LLC

"[There was] fun, excitement, and encouragement for everyone to actually walk under/through [the arch] and it worked.  We have cheerleaders and small children at the finish line by the arch handing out stickers, saying ‘I did it.’ Before we had the arch, [people] would straggle in anywhere."

- Jackie Allen, March of Dimes

“The likeness to our company mascot was amazing. We used the balloon at the Winn Dixie Home & Garden show ... and we have had rave reviews.”

- Christy Bernard, Tony Chachere’s

"Our tunnel was also a great addition to our pre-game tradition: the Wildcat walk. Our city shuts down three blocks of downtown, and we have hundreds of fans lining the streets with a police escort, while we walk to the stadium."

- Sam Baker, Head Football Coach at Waconia High School
