Custom Inflatable Colon Tunnel Works to Save Lives from Colorectal Cancer

Strides for Life Inflatable Colon at Fundraising Race EventStrides for Life Uses Inflatable Colon Tunnel to Promote Cancer Screening & Early Detection

Colorectal cancer is the number two cause of cancer deaths in both men and women in the U.S., yet millions go unscreened and uneducated year after year. This is what drives the Strides for Life Colon Cancer Foundation. The organization was established after the death of Dylan Cappel at age 23.

Dylan died while training for a berth on the 2004 United States Olympic Rowing Team. A young man. A highly trained athlete. Yet colon cancer struck.

With the help of Landmark Creations, Strides for Life took a lighthearted approach to this very serious subject. Using an inflatable tunnel as the base, a custom inflatable walk-through colon was developed that allows visitors to actually see a replication of what goes on inside the human body. As the tour progresses from entrance to exit, visitors watch possibly harmless polyps morph into dangerous growths.

Using the inflatable colon tunnel at their Annual Run/Walk in San Francisco, health fairs, street festivals and other public events, Strides for Life has gotten lots of positive feedback. They've also impacted countless lives that might well be saved, thanks to this fun lesson about the deadly effects of neglecting colon-cancer screenings.
